Evil

My tweet last evening was in response to a statement made during the candidate debates, not in response to the activities in Paris. It was poorly worded and did not convey my intent.

I do think the attacks in Paris yesterday, along with other ISIS terrorist actions, are cowardly and despicable. My heart breaks for the people of France, of Paris, the families of those wounded or killed and the casualties themselves. My thoughts are with them. I condemn the attacks, as I condemn all violence.

I am folding up my campaign tent. The campaign website and Facebook page will be down by this afternoon.

I apologize to the volunteers and contributors who have put so much time, effort and money into my campaign.

I am very sorry for “spreading ick” on other candidates and the DFL party. I will do everything I can to help resolve the issue: most likely the best thing for me to do is shut up. The tweet was stupid. I’m sorry.

You’re human. It’s ok. I get that you were trying to spread understanding and tolerance for PEOPLE, not for ISIS. I commend that. I just think people are pissed off right now and not in a place to understand anything through the grief that I’m certain you share. The timing, as you said, was not great either, I see that that wasn’t intentional on your part. Chin up, you seem intelligent, respectful and really introspective. You’ve got some GREAT causes and platforms. Take comfort in the fact that we’ve all been misunderstood, maybe not so publicly as this. People will move on 🙂

    What exactly were you thinking?
A militant Muslim organization such as ISIS, that makes the mafia appear like kindergarten, that publicizes its abominations, that include rape, torture and all manner of cruel murders, is not “progressive” or otherwise constructive, and by any reasonable count it is criminal and must be treated as such.
I don’t think it is rude to say that you need to educate yourself on the issue of militant Islam and its extreme antipathy towards democracy and that accompany it.

What news source are you watching, the ISIS station? Only smart thing you have done is quit your campaign. And don’t run for anything else.

You are an idiot to not see the forest for the trees. Where are the moderate Muslims? The moderate muslims who openly oppose radical islam, who says they are tolerant of others with different beliefs? They are in jail or dead. Even the women here in Minnesota who belong to muslim communities suffer and are scared to not fall into line with what their community tells them to wear, how to act etc. That is not “becoming American”. Its idiots like you who will allow the evil that their Koran tells them to do-to change our community, to let them immigrate here, become the majority and ruin our society. Their goal is to have their laws in their communities, its idiots like you who will let them so as long as you get the vote-we are lucky you are stepping down. It only would have been better if you would have lost all your possession , lost the election, lost your job in the process-as a warning to other idiots who think those that behead people for just being a different religion-NOT EVIL…. fuck you

Your comment was indeed stupid, but I find it difficult to accept that the events of Paris weren’t the motivation for them. Had there not been an attack, you likely would have never made such a statement, and you certianly would not be “folding up your tent” because of the response you received, you hopefully would be defending your stance. You’re clearly interested in representing the citizens of your state. They, and anyone you serve in public office at the least, deserve honesty.
    Thank you for stepping aside.

“ISIS isn’t necessarily evil – it is made up of people doing best for their community” (?)

*Come to Jesus Dan. Repent & rid yourself from the left-wing life you’re living then ask Jesus Christ to fill you with The Holy Spirit. Next, purchase a Holy Bible and consume it by the hour, daily. Fall in love with pursuing Jesus Christ Dan Kimmel and your eyes will open to TRUTH for perhaps the first time in your life.

Granted, I do not know your personal trek which got you to where you are now. In truth, it truly isn’t important. What counts is where you are heading after your tailspin subsides. Regenerate your mind through Scripture my brother – the new life is worth shedding your old skin away – and that is an eternal Promise.

Besides, this particular regeneration may well be the only option left if you ever want to win an election again.

You can go to Paris and perform 1,000,000 hours of community service in aid to the victims of terrorism.

I wonder why you think explanation above will do. It is, indeed, better to just shut up and disappear forever. There won’t be a 2nd act for you, anyway. It doesn’t look like any community here in the U.S. will want you “to do what’s better for them”. Well, at least somebody has a keen understanding of this scum. They are so stressed out over climate change! Of course they are not evil. They are just striving for their community. They are so MISUNDERSTOOD! Just like you. Besides, think of all the sex slaves you can have! Why not? Something tells me you would like the lifestyle.
Oh, those ungrateful and unwashed american voters! No appreciation of a bright intellectual star like yourself!

I’m sorry Mr. Kimmel, that your objectivity has brought you such a vicious and profane backlash.

If the ISIS attack in Paris was a 10 on the evil scale, the 2003 invasion of Iraq was certainly an 11. After all, ISIS wouldn’t exist except for that criminal act of military aggression.

Stop the bombing. Stop the drone assassinations. Stop all offensive military operations. Break the cycle of violence now and begin negotiations with all parties; including ISIS. Behind their barbaric tactics are legitimate grievances.

You’re response here doesn’t help you. Regardless of the Paris events or the debate, it was amazingly in poor taste and shows how out of touch you are with the facts. Also trying to justify your remarks by saying it was a response to the debate shows you still haven’t taken responsibility for them.
